Real Estate Investment Firm Executive Recognized for Exemplary Creativity and Vision
DALLAS – January 9, 2023 – Centennial, a real estate investment firm with a national portfolio of shopping, dining, entertainment and mixed-use destinations as well as a full-service property management platform serving third-party owners (www.CentennialREC.com), announced today that its vice president of National Leasing, DeeDee Shashy, has been appointed to the ICSC Next Generation Leadership Network, an under-40 group of professionals that exemplify the leadership, creativity and vision needed to advance their organizations and the industry through a period of rapid change and transformation. By adding Shashy to this prestigious group, ICSC is recognizing the leadership, creativity and vision that has led her to impact Centennial and make her mark on the industry as a whole. Additionally, Centennial is also proud to announce that its president, Whitney Livingston, has recently been named to the ICSC Board of Trustees.

Responsible for leasing several properties across two states, Shashy is quickly becoming a powerhouse in the retail space. For two years, she has been named a top producer in the organization, adding several new or first-to-market tenants to the Centennial portfolio that include Honest Coffee Roasters, a Nashville-based coffee concept; Frances Valentine, a national women’s apparel retailer; the build-your-own Candado Tacos; and Fabletics, Levi’s and the fast-growing Restore Hyper Wellness, each of which need no introduction. As part of a long line of awards and recognitions, in 2022, Shashy was named a GlobeSt. Woman of Influence; in 2021 and 2022, a #CREi Top Influencer in Social Media for the commercial real estate industry; in 2021, a Connect Media Next Generation Award winner recognizing her as an up-and-comer in retail; in 2021, she was a recipient of the Birmingham Business Journal’s Women to Watch Award; and also in 2021, while part of the Bayer Properties leasing team, Shashy was selected as a GlobeSt. top retail influencer.
Outside of her work with Centennial, Shashy is active in various industry organizations and is passionate about giving back to the community. She earned her Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation in 2018, and by 2019, she was serving on the Alabama CCIM Board of Directors as the chapter member services and communications chair and as the programs chair. She has been a member of the Junior League of Birmingham since 2015, and she has served the community as a retail liaison, recruiting more than 600 retailers and restaurants for the Shop, Save and Share Committee, the largest number of participating partners in the committee’s history. Shashy is also a licensed real estate broker in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee; the vice chair of marketing for CREW Birmingham; and an active member of ICSC.
As a hands-on leader who prides herself on being transparent and supportive of others, Shashy excels in influencing people with ease and subtlety.
